Tbilisi for digital nomads

Working remotely from Tbilisi in 2026: the visa-free year and the new insurance rule, costs, flats, banks, SIM cards, where to work, safety and meeting people.

Updated 25.10.2026

Tbilisi has become one of the easiest cities in the world to work from: citizens of many countries can stay a year without a visa, a month costs a fraction of Western Europe, mobile internet is among the fastest anywhere, and freelancers can pay 1% tax. This guide covers what to sort out before you come and once you're here, with a longer guide behind every section.

Before you come

Citizens of about 95 countries can stay in Georgia for a full year without a visa. Since 1 January 2026 every visitor also needs health and accident insurance covering the whole stay, worth at least ₾30,000, in English or Georgian; it can be checked at the border. Overstaying now brings fines and possible entry bans. There's no digital nomad visa: the 2020 "Remotely from Georgia" scheme has ended. The details: working remotely from Tbilisi; staying longer than a year: residence permits in Georgia.
